Different Types of Copper Hair Color for Every Skin Tone

From soft ginger to rich burnt copper — every version of the season's most-requested color, and how to choose the one that flatters your skin.

Copper is the color of the moment, but "copper" is a wide spectrum. Here are the four variations we get asked for most at the salon.

Ginger copper

Soft, warm, and slightly muted — the most natural-looking copper and the easiest transition from a brunette or bronde base.

Penny copper

Brighter and more saturated, with a true copper-coin shine. Requires pre-lightening on darker bases and a gloss refresh every 6–8 weeks to stay vibrant.

Rose copper

Copper with a pink undertone — cooler, more editorial. Beautiful on fair and neutral skin tones.

Burnt copper

Deep, rich, autumnal. Reads almost auburn in low light and blazes copper in the sun. Very forgiving on grow-out.

Keeping copper vibrant

Copper is the fastest-fading color family. A weekly color-safe conditioning mask, cool-water washes, and a color-depositing gloss every 6–8 weeks are non-negotiable. Book a complimentary color consultation and we'll build the exact shade and upkeep plan for you.
